# Delete your account

Permanently close your account.

**Prerequisites:** You must have no active organization memberships — leave or transfer every organization you belong to first.

**Required permission:** None — every user can delete their own account, once the prerequisite above is met.

## Before you can delete your account

Check your active organization memberships:

- **If you're an owner of any organization**, that organization needs a new owner, or needs to be closed, before you can leave. Talk to your team or site owner about transferring ownership first.
- **If you're a member of any organization**, ask an administrator there to suspend your membership, or leave the organization yourself if that option is available to you.

Tooling Metrics blocks account deletion entirely while you still belong to any active organization — the delete button stays disabled until every membership is resolved.

## Delete your account

1. Click your avatar at the bottom of the sidebar → **Setting**.
1. Click the **Account** tab.
1. Once no active memberships remain, click **Delete your account**.
1. Confirm the deletion.

You're signed out immediately and shown a confirmation screen.

## Notes

- This can't be undone from within the app — the account and its login are gone once deleted.
- Any personal API tokens on the account (see [Manage your API tokens](https://support.toolingmetrics.com/en/account/guides/manage-api-keys/)) stop working immediately, since they authenticate as you.
