**Prerequisites:** At least one Warehouse Access Point exists.
**Required permission:** Admin Center access (organization owner or a member of the `<org-name>-admins` group).

WAP terminals are often shared between multiple operators on the shopfloor. Auto-logout automatically signs out the current user after a period of inactivity, preventing one operator from acting on behalf of another.

## Steps

1. Open the **Admin Center** → **Warehouse Access Points**.
1. Open the WAP you want to configure.
1. Click **Edit**.
1. Set the **Auto-Logout Timeout** — the number of **seconds** of inactivity before the session ends (up to 3600, i.e. one hour). Common values: 300–900 seconds (5–15 minutes) for high-traffic terminals, 1800 seconds (30 minutes) for low-traffic areas. The default is 30 seconds.
1. Click **Update**.

## What to expect

When a user is logged in at this WAP and has no activity for the configured duration, Tooling Metrics logs them out automatically and returns to the login screen. Any unsaved work on open documents is discarded.

Leaving the timeout blank does not disable auto-logout — it falls back to the platform's default session timeout instead. There is no setting that disables auto-logout entirely; every WAP session times out eventually. For a dedicated single-user terminal, set a longer value rather than expecting the session to stay open indefinitely.

## Identifying the device

Each WAP also has an optional **MAC Address** field, unique across the organization, for recording which physical device the WAP record represents. Set it under the same **Edit** screen as the auto-logout timeout. This is an identification field, not an access restriction — it does not by itself block sign-in from other devices.
