**Prerequisites:** A job exists with operations assigned to tool assemblies. Optionally, tools are loaded in the job's machine.

**Required permission:** Engineering → Jobs — User or above (Engineering → Projects to renumber a multiple-setup project). Admins can renumber any job; Managers and Users only the jobs they created.

## Renumber tool numbers

The job's machine is fixed — renumbering always works against the crib of the machine the job is already assigned to. There is no separate machine-selection step.

1. In the sidebar, click **Engineering → Jobs** and open the job.
1. Click the **Tool List** tab, then click **Renumber** at the bottom of the list. The button appears while the job is Draft, Released, or Approved and has at least one operation.
1. The dialog lists every tool assembly used by the job's operations, one row per assembly, with a pre-filled, editable tool number. Suggested numbers are ranked by:
   1. Tool assemblies whose Tools are currently loaded in the machine.
   1. The order the tool assembly first appears in the job's operations sequence.
1. A row is highlighted when its suggested number differs from the tool number currently set on the operations. Review and adjust any field's value directly in the table if needed.
1. Click **Renumber** to apply the numbers to all operations that use each tool assembly.

## Notes

- Tool numbers in Tooling Metrics correspond to T-codes in the NC program (T01, T02, etc.).
- After renumbering, regenerate the setup sheet to distribute updated tool numbers to the operator.
- If the same tool assembly appears in multiple operations, all operations sharing that assembly receive the same tool number.
