**Prerequisites:** A Warehouse Access Point exists.

**Required permission:** Admin Center access (organization owner or a member of the `<org-name>-admins` group).

## Add the storage device

1. In the admin sidebar, click **Storage Devices** → **+ Create**.
1. Enter the **Name** (e.g., *Tool Drawer Cabinet*).
1. Set the **Type**: **Manual** for a standard drawer or shelf cabinet, **Automated** for a carousel or vending machine.
1. Select the **Warehouse Access Point** this device belongs to.
1. Set the **Up Direction** (X, Y, or Z — the axis pointing "up" for this device's orientation in 3D) and the **X, Y Coordinates** of the device's position on the WAP floor plan.
1. Click **Create**.

## Configure modules and locations

The **Setup** dialog is only available while the device has zero modules — it is a one-time batch action, not something you can re-run to add more modules later. Once modules exist, add further ones individually from the storage device detail view.

1. Open the storage device detail view and click **Setup**.
1. Click the gear icon on **Module 1** to configure it: **Module type** — **Grid**, **X direction**, or **Y direction**.
1. Apply the same or different configuration to each additional module. Click **+ New Storage Module** to add more.
1. Set the **Gap** and **Dimension** values of each module to match the physical device.
1. Click **Setup** to generate all storage modules and locations in one batch. Each location receives a unique address.

## Verify in the 3D model

1. Open the Warehouse Access Point that contains this device.
1. In the CAD toolbar, click **Reload** to render the 3D model. Confirm the device appears at the correct position and its modules look right.
