# Process a transfer

Move items between storage locations or warehouses using a tracked transfer order.

**Prerequisites:** Items are in stock at the source location. The destination storage location exists.

**Required permission:** Inventory → Transfers — User or above. Admins can validate any transfer; Managers and Users only the transfers they created.

## Create the transfer

1. In the sidebar, click **Inventory → Transfers** → **+ Create**.
1. Select **Pick From** — the Warehouse Access Point items are moving from.
1. Select **Restock To** — the Warehouse Access Point items are moving to.
1. Click **⊕** to add move lines. For each line, select the **Item**, the **From** and **To** storage locations, and the **Quantity** to transfer.
1. Click **Mark as Todo**. The system checks availability at the source: if every line resolves, the transfer moves to **Ready**; if any line can't be fully covered, it moves to **Waiting**. From **Waiting**, click **Check Availability** to recheck.

## Execute the physical move

Picking at the source and placing at the destination are done by operators at a **ToolingMetrics WAP** terminal, not from this office screen. Once the transfer is Ready:

1. An operator at the source WAP terminal picks the listed items, confirming each line as it's picked.
1. The transfer moves to **In Transit** once picking is confirmed.
1. An operator at the destination WAP terminal places the items in the specified locations, confirming each line.
1. The transfer moves to **Done** once all lines are placed, and on-hand at both locations updates accordingly.

Use the transfer detail view in the office to track status and line-level progress at any point.

## Notes

- Items already picked but not yet placed are **In Transit** — decreased from the source but not yet increased at the destination.
- Transfers work within a single warehouse or between different warehouses.
- To cancel a transfer before it's picked, use **Cancel** from the transfer detail view — this reopens the reserved quantity elsewhere.
