A **Scrap List** permanently removes items from inventory. Validating a scrap list writes the affected quantity and cost off the books; for a serialized item, each disposed piece's own Serialized Item record is closed (cost zeroed, condition set to Scrapped).

## Document fields

| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| **Number** | Auto-generated from the Scrap Lists sequence. |
| **Source** | The storage device the items are being scrapped from. |
| **Status** | See [Status flow](#status-flow) below. |

## Line fields

| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| **Item** | The item being scrapped. |
| **Storage Location** | The location where the item currently resides. |
| **Quantity** | Number of units to write off (for a non-serialized item), or one line entry per serialized piece selected. |

## Status flow

| Status | Description |
|---|---|
| **Draft** | Lines are being entered. No inventory impact. |
| **Waiting** | Requested via Mark as Todo, but at least one line's quantity exceeds what's currently on hand at that location. |
| **Ready** | Requested via Mark as Todo, and every line is fully available. |
| **Done** | Validated. Items permanently removed from inventory; cost written off. Cannot be edited or reversed. |
| **Cancelled** | Discarded before validation. No inventory impact. |

## Automatic scrap lists

The Inventory Scheduler can also generate a draft Scrap List automatically: when a For scrap stock rule's location holds a quantity at or above its Threshold Quantity, the scheduler adds (or creates) a Scrap List line for that storage device. See [Stock Rules Reference](https://support.toolingmetrics.com/en/inventory/reference/stock-rules/).
