**Prerequisites:** A Warehouse Access Point exists — see the [organization tutorial](https://support.toolingmetrics.com/en/admin/tutorials/).
**Required permission:** Production → Machines — User or above. Admins can edit any machine; Managers and Users only the machines they created.

Create the machine record the CNC Programmer will reference when defining operations:

1. Open **Production → Machines → + Create**.
2. Enter the name (e.g. *Haas TM-01*), builder, model, and serial number. Assign the Warehouse Access Point created during the organization tutorial.
3. In the machine detail view, add a **Head** component with **30 slots**. Under the head's **Interfaces**, add CAT40 interfaces using codes: `SKG30C0400****`, `SKG31C0400****`, `SKG36C0400****`, `SKG37C0400****`.

Interface codes allow Tooling Metrics to filter which tool assemblies are compatible with this machine. For field definitions, see [Machines](https://support.toolingmetrics.com/en/production/reference/machines/).
