**Prerequisites:** A pick list has been generated for a tool.
**Required permission:** Inventory → Pick Lists — User or above. Admins can validate any pick list; Managers and Users only the pick lists they created.

## Steps

1. In the sidebar, click **Inventory → Pick Lists** (or open it directly from the tool record).
1. Click **Mark as Todo**. Tooling Metrics checks stock at the source Warehouse Access Point and sets each line's status — **Available**, **Partial Available**, or **Waiting**.
1. Once every line is Available, click **Check Availability** if needed to move the pick list to **Ready**.
1. For a serialized component, pick it at the WAP terminal by scanning or entering its serial number — the line updates as pieces are matched. A non-serialized component just needs the quantity confirmed.
1. Click **Validate**.

## What to expect

The pick list moves to **Done**. For each line:
- On-hand quantity decreases at the storage location.
- In-circulation quantity increases on the item.
- The item lands on the tool — logged on its **Assembly History** tab and showing on its **Items List**.

The tool is now ready to be physically assembled and, once built, transferred to the machine.

## If stock falls short

If a line can't be fully covered, it stays **Waiting** or **Partial Available** — it isn't a dead end. Click **Check Availability** again once stock is replenished, or **Cancel** the pick list if you need to release the reservation and start over.
