**Prerequisites:** A Purchase Order with at least one line that has been restocked (Restocked quantity greater than zero).

**Required permission:** Purchase → Return Picks — User or above. The order's **New Return Pick** button shows only to Admins and to the user who created the order; Managers and Users validate only the return picks they created.

Use a Return Pick when items you need to send back to a vendor have already been put away by a Restock. It undoes the put-away, moving them from their storage location back to the receiving area, so a [Purchase Return](https://support.toolingmetrics.com/en/purchasing/guides/process-purchase-return/) can then ship them out. If the items were received but never restocked, you don't need a Return Pick — return them directly.

## Create and process the return pick

1. Open the **Purchase Order** the items were restocked against.
1. Click **New Return Pick** and select **Pick From** — the Warehouse Access Point where the picking happens.
1. For each line, set the **Quantity to Pick** and confirm which storage location you're pulling it from.
1. Physically collect each item from its location.
1. Click **Mark as Todo** (or **Check Availability**, if the pick is already Waiting), then **Validate**.

Validating decreases the Purchase Order line's Restocked total by the picked quantity — the items themselves aren't removed from on-hand inventory yet; that happens when you validate the [Purchase Return](https://support.toolingmetrics.com/en/purchasing/guides/process-purchase-return/).

## Next

With the items back at the receiving area, follow [Process a purchase return](https://support.toolingmetrics.com/en/purchasing/guides/process-purchase-return/) to actually ship them to the vendor.
