**Prerequisites:** A confirmed purchase order exists.
**Required permission:** Purchase → Purchase Receipts — User or above. Admins can validate any receipt; Managers and Users only the receipts they created.

A **Purchase Receipt** records the physical arrival of goods against a purchase order.

## Steps

1. In the sidebar, click **Purchase → Purchase Receipts**.
1. Open the receipt linked to your confirmed purchase order. If none exists yet, open the purchase order and click **New Receipt**. Its status is **Draft**.
1. For each line, adjust the **Quantity** to match what was actually delivered — it pre-fills with the full ordered amount.
1. Click **Mark as Todo**, then **Validate**.

## What to expect

The receipt status changes to **Done**. If your organization's [Automatic Purchase](https://support.toolingmetrics.com/en/purchasing/guides/configure-auto-receipt-restock/) setting includes Purchase Restock, the **Purchase Restock** was already created when the order was confirmed — validating the receipt doesn't create it. Otherwise, click **New Restock** on the purchase order. Either way, the restock guides the next step: physically placing the items in their storage locations.

## Partial deliveries

If only part of the order arrives, lower the affected lines' **Quantity** to match and validate the receipt as-is. When the rest of the delivery arrives, open a further **New Receipt** from the purchase order for the remaining quantity.
