Configure currencies

Add a currency to your organization so purchase and service orders can be issued in it.

Updated

Prerequisites: None.

Required permission: Admin Center access (organization owner or a member of the <org-name>-admins group).

Every organization starts with USD as its base currency. To place orders in a different currency, add that currency to your organization first.

  1. Click your organization name at the bottom of the sidebar → Manage Organizations, then open your organization.
  2. In the admin sidebar, click Currencies.
  3. Click + Create.
  4. Enter the Code (a valid three-letter ISO 4217 code, e.g. EUR), Name, Symbol, Symbol Position, Decimal Places, and Number Format.
  5. Click Create.

A newly added currency has no exchange rate yet — see Update an exchange rate to add one before using it on a real order. You can select the currency on a vendor or purchase order form before a rate exists, but a purchase order in that currency can’t be confirmed until it has a rate dated on or before the confirmation date.

The base currency is not set on a Currency record — it’s an organization-wide setting.

  1. In the admin sidebar, click Preferences.
  2. Under Regional settings, open the Currency dropdown.
  3. Choose from currencies already added to your organization.
  4. Click Update.

The base currency’s own rate is always 1 and cannot be edited.

  • To add an exchange rate for a currency, or update one later, see Update an exchange rate.
  • The base currency has no Delete button. Other currencies can be deleted, so double-check before deleting any currency in active use.
