Setup Assistant

Warehouse sources, tool priority rules, stock-move columns, and the documents the assistant creates.

Updated

The Setup Assistant is a wizard, available on a Job (or on a multi-setup Project) that matches every tool assembly required by a job’s operations to available tools in the warehouse and generates the documents needed to physically prepare them.

The pool of candidate tools the assistant searches is controlled by two source options, both selectable together.

Option What it includes
Machine warehouse Tools and items already in the machine’s own warehouse.
Machine parent warehouse Tools and items in the parent warehouse above the machine’s warehouse.

Tool priority determines how the assistant ranks and orders candidate tools within a warehouse source.

Option How tools are ranked
Location Tools closest to the machine are prioritized (machine crib → access point → warehouse → parent).
Remaining Life Tools with the most life remaining relative to the job’s total cycle time are prioritized.
Both (default) Applies both rankings together.

The assistant lists up to five candidate tools per assembly, ordered by the selected priority. Each candidate is shown with its current location, condition, and remaining life.

The suggestion step presents one row per stock move the assistant proposes, with the following columns.

Column Description
Move Type Tool Transfer (moving a tool between warehouse locations) or Pick List (picking items from storage).
Tool Number The T-code from the job operations.
Source Where the tool or item is currently stored.
Destination The machine or tool it is moving to.
Create Pick List Whether a pick list will be generated for this row.
Availability Whether the tool or item is available (+) or not (−).

A row highlighted in yellow indicates the tool’s current machine slot number differs from the T-code in the job’s operations.

Confirming the suggestion step creates one or more of the following documents, depending on the selections made in the assistant.

Document Created when Status
Tool record New was selected for a tool assembly Released
Tool Transfer A tool needs to move from one warehouse location to the machine Waiting
Pick List A tool needs components picked from storage Waiting

Documents are accessible immediately from their respective lists (Production → Tools, Inventory → Transfers, Inventory → Pick Lists).
