Tool lists
The Tool List tab on jobs and projects — its columns, how rows are compiled, and the Renumber action.
A Tool List compiles every distinct tool assembly used across the operations of a job, or of all jobs in a project, into a single list. It shows each assembly once, with its tool number, the operations that use it, and their combined cycle time.
The Tool List is not a separate document. It is the Tool List tab on a Job and on a Project. The printed Setup Sheet has its own tool list with one row per operation.
Columns
Section titled “Columns”Each row represents one tool assembly assigned to one or more operations.
| Column | Description |
|---|---|
| Image | The tool assembly’s picture, or a placeholder if none is attached. |
| Name / Designation | The tool assembly’s name and designation. Hover the row and click the tool assembly icon to open the tool assembly in a side drawer. |
| Tool No. | The tool number, shown as a T-code (e.g., T1, T12). Taken from the first operation that uses the assembly. Use Renumber to give every operation of an assembly the same number. |
| Operations | The operations that use this assembly, as sequence numbers in job and operation order (e.g., #1, #4). On a project, each number is prefixed with the job name (e.g., Op 10#1). |
| Est. Cycle Time | Sum of the cycle times of all operations using this assembly. |
| Class | The tool assembly’s category icon. Hover it to see the category name. |
| Parameters | The non-zero dimensions of the assembly’s cutting reference point (CRP), each with its ISO 13399 symbol. Values are in mm, or in inches marked with * when your unit system is Imperial. |
| Status | The tool assembly’s status: Draft, Released, Active, To archive, or Archived. |
The tab has no filters or search. Rows appear in the order their assemblies are first used, following the job order and then the operation order.
How it is compiled
Section titled “How it is compiled”The Tool List is compiled from the operations each time the tab opens. Nothing is stored separately.
- All operations of the job (or of every job in the project) are read in job order, then operation order.
- Operations are grouped by tool assembly. Each assembly gets one row.
- For each row, the operations are listed and their cycle times are summed.
The list reflects operations as they are added, changed, or removed.
Renumber
Section titled “Renumber”The Renumber button at the bottom of the tab opens the Tools Renumber dialog, which assigns one tool number per tool assembly across all of its operations.
Available when: you have permission to change the job or project, the job or project is not Active or Archived, and it has at least one operation. On a project, Multiple jobs setup must also be enabled.
The dialog lists each tool assembly with its current tool number, an arrow, and a field for the new number. The new number is pre-filled with a suggestion based on the machine’s Tool Crib:
- If a tool built from the assembly is already loaded in the machine, its slot number is suggested.
- Otherwise, the lowest slot number not already used in the Tool Crib is suggested, in the order the assemblies appear in the list.
Numbers that differ from the current tool number are highlighted in yellow. Click Renumber to save the numbers to every operation, or Cancel to close the dialog. The Tool List reloads with the new tool numbers. See Renumber tools for an NC program for the workflow.
Use in preparation
Section titled “Use in preparation”The Setup Assistant uses the same compiled list of tool assemblies: clicking Setup Assistant on a job or project generates Tool records and Pick Lists for all required assemblies in one step. See Prepare tools for a job for the workflow.
