Warehouses
Warehouse document fields and parent-child hierarchy configuration.
A Warehouse is the top-level storage location in Tooling Metrics. All inventory exists within a warehouse. Warehouses can represent physical buildings, rooms, or logical groupings of storage areas, and can be nested under a parent warehouse to form a multi-site hierarchy. See Warehouse Hierarchy for an explanation of how the location levels relate.
Fields
Section titled “Fields”| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Name | Warehouse name (e.g., Main Tool Crib, Machine Shop — Bay 3). Shown in location pickers and printed documents. Must be unique within the organization. |
| Administrator | The user responsible for this warehouse. Required — used by the automatic replenishment process. |
| Parent Warehouse | The warehouse this one sits under, if any. Blank for a top-level warehouse. |
| Delivery Address | Postal address for this warehouse. Used on purchase orders when this warehouse is the delivery destination. |
Virtual warehouse locations
Section titled “Virtual warehouse locations”Saving a warehouse automatically creates four virtual Warehouse Locations under it — Inventory, Scrap, PO Receive, and Assembly. These are not Storage Locations inside a device; they are the warehouse-level endpoints that stock moves reference (for example, a Purchase Receipt’s destination is the warehouse’s PO Receive location). No manual step is needed to create them, and renaming the warehouse renames them to match.
Hierarchy
Section titled “Hierarchy”A warehouse contains one or more Warehouse Access Points (WAPs). Each WAP is an entry point into a physical storage area. WAPs contain Storage Devices, which contain individual Storage Locations. A warehouse may also have child warehouses, forming a multi-level tree used by the automatic replenishment scheduler to move stock between sites.
Navigate to the Warehouse detail page and select the Access Points tab to view and manage the WAPs attached to this warehouse.
Commands
Section titled “Commands”| Command | Description |
|---|---|
| New Access Point | Adds a WAP under this warehouse. |
| Edit | Updates warehouse name, administrator, parent, and delivery address. |
A warehouse with existing WAPs or child warehouses cannot be deleted; remove or reassign those first.
