Create and manage jobs

Add, configure, reorder, and remove jobs within a project to model each machine setup or clamping change.

Updated

Prerequisites: A project exists in Draft status, if you want to group this job with others. A job can also be created standalone with no project at all — useful for one-off planning.

Required permission: Engineering → Jobs — User or above. Adding a job from a project’s Process tab also requires that you can change that project. Admins can edit and delete any job; Managers and Users only the jobs they created.

  1. In the sidebar, click Engineering → Projects and open the project.
  2. Click the Process tab, then click + at the bottom of the job list.
  3. Enter the job Name (e.g., Op 10, Side A – Facing).
  4. Select the Machine this job will run on. This enables slot-based tool renumbering and filters tool assembly compatibility.
  5. Click Create.

A job doesn’t need a project to exist — to create one standalone, click Engineering → Jobs → + Create instead and leave the Project field blank.

  1. Open the project’s Process tab.
  2. Drag jobs to the desired sequence using the ≡ handle in the Action column of each row.
  3. The new order is saved when you drop the job. Each job’s Order number updates automatically.
  1. Open the project and click the job name.
  2. Click Edit in the bottom toolbar.
  3. Update the Name or Machine.
  4. Click Update.

Setup sheets are printed per job and are available regardless of the job’s status.

  1. Open the job.
  2. Click Setup Sheet in the bottom toolbar.
  1. Open the job detail.
  2. Click Delete in the bottom toolbar.

Deleting a job also deletes all operations within it.

  • A project with no jobs cannot be released.
  • Each job models one machine setup. If machining a part requires two separate clampings or two different machines, create two jobs.
  • To add operations to a job, see Define Operations.
  • To import a job’s operations from Autodesk Fusion, see Import a CAM project.
