Warehouse access points
Access point fields, digital model setup, and storage device relationships.
A Warehouse Access Point (WAP) is the workstation-level zone where operators perform inventory operations — picking, restocking, returning, and counting. A WAP can be paired with a dedicated terminal running the ToolingMetrics WAP application. Its 3D model is assembled automatically from the parametric models of its assigned Storage Devices — there is no file to upload.
Fields
Section titled “Fields”| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Name | Access point name (e.g., Tool Crib A, North Aisle). |
| Description | Optional free-text note on the WAP’s physical location. |
| Warehouse | Parent warehouse this access point belongs to. |
| Administrator | The user responsible for this WAP. Required. |
| Mac Address | Identifies the terminal allowed to log in as this WAP. Must be unique across the entire application, not just the organization, since a terminal is matched by MAC address before its organization is known. Optional. |
| Auto Logout | Idle seconds before a terminal session signs out automatically. Integer, 1–3600. Blank defaults to 30. |
| Time Zone | The WAP’s local time zone, used for scheduling and timestamps at this terminal. Defaults to UTC. |
Storage devices
Section titled “Storage devices”A WAP contains one or more Storage Devices (manual or automated). Each device is positioned within the WAP’s 3D model using X/Y coordinates plus an up-direction and rotation.
Navigate to the Storage Devices tab on the WAP detail page to view, add, or configure devices. A storage device belongs to exactly one WAP; reassigning it moves all its locations, and any stock rules pointing at those locations, along with it. Operators logged in to a WAP see only its assigned devices.
