Create a warehouse
Create the Tooling Metrics warehouse record that represents your physical storage facility.
Required permission: Admin Center access (organization owner or a member of the <org-name>-admins group).
A Warehouse is the top-level container for your physical storage. It has an address for delivery purposes and an administrator responsible for it. All storage devices and warehouse access points belong to a warehouse.
- Open the Admin Center: click your organization name → Manage Organization.
- In the admin sidebar, click Warehouses → + Create.
- Enter the Name (e.g., Tool Room - Building A).
- Enter the Delivery Address — this appears on purchase orders sent to vendors.
- Select yourself (or the warehouse manager) as the Administrator.
- Leave Parent Warehouse blank — this is a top-level warehouse.
- Click Create.
What to expect
Section titled “What to expect”The warehouse appears in the Inventory module’s navigation, with four virtual locations (Inventory, Scrap, PO Receive, Assembly) created for it automatically. It has no storage devices yet and no items. The next step is to create the physical storage structure inside it.
Multiple warehouses
Section titled “Multiple warehouses”If your organization has more than one physical location, create a separate warehouse for each. Items and stock movements are always linked to a specific warehouse and storage location.
Set up a storage device — create the cabinets, drawers, and racks inside your warehouse.
