Configure a widget

Edit a widget's data source, filters, and display settings to show the information you need.

Updated

Prerequisites: A dashboard exists with at least one widget.

Required permission: Reports → Dashboards — User or above, on a dashboard you created. Admins can configure widgets on any dashboard.

  1. Open the dashboard containing the widget.
  2. Hover the widget’s card and click Setting in its menu.

The settings panel has three tabs: Display, Data, and Filters.

  1. On the Data tab, click Source Type and pick the record type this widget reads: Item, Tool, Cutting Edge, Machine, Storage Device, Warehouse, Purchase Order, Purchase Order Line, Usage Cost Line, or Tool Life. A Metric widget can only read a Machine, Storage Device, or Warehouse — the other types are hidden while Type is Metric.
  2. If Type (on the Display tab) is set to Metric, pick a specific record under Source Name — a Metric widget reads its columns from one record and has nothing to show until you do. For Chart and Table widgets, leave this as All record; the field is disabled for those types.
  3. Under Columns, pick a function for each field you want the widget to use — mark the column you want to group by as Group, and the value you want to summarize as Sum, Count, or Average. For example, on Usage Cost Line: Machine = Group, Value = Sum, Created At = group by month gives you “cost per machine per month.” The functions offered depend on the column’s type — see Column functions for the full breakdown.
  4. Optionally set Sort By and Sort Direction to order the results, and Limit (Display tab) to cap how many rows or series show.
  1. On the Filters tab, set Filter operation to all or any of the rows you add.
  2. Click the + button to add a filter row: pick a column, an operator, and a value. Picking “last n days” (only offered for date/time columns) swaps the value field to a day-count input instead of a date picker. See Filters for the full operator list.
  1. On the Display tab, set Title, Size, and Type — Metric (field values from one record, as cards), Chart, or Table.
  2. If Type is Chart, pick Chart Type: Line, Column, Area, Scatter, Bar, Pie, Stacked Column, Stacked Bar, or Stacked Area.
  3. Optionally set Refresh after (seconds) to auto-refresh the widget’s data.

Click Update. The widget saves immediately — there’s no separate “apply to dashboard” step.

Widget shows “No data available to display.” A Metric widget with Source Name still set to All record has no record to read — pick one. Otherwise, check whether your filters or grouping match any data at all.

Table widget shows “Oops! This widget setting does not support table type.” A Table can’t render a grouped/aggregated result — switch Type to Chart or Metric for that column combination.

Widget shows a red error message. The current filter or column combination raised an error while collecting data (e.g. an incompatible filter value). The message after “Error occurred when collecting to the data:” names the underlying problem — adjust the Data or Filters tab accordingly.
